Thomas scores career high for ISU
AMES, Iowa – Matt Thomas scored a career high 14 points in helping the Iowa State men’s basketball team get an easy win over University of Missouri – Kansas on Monday night.
The 6-foot-3-inch freshman went 4-for-7 from the field, including 3-for-6 from beyond the arc in the 110-51 win at the Hilton Coliseum. Thomas added a steal, a rebound and an assist in just 19 minutes. No starter played more than 20 minutes.
Thomas, an Onalaska High School graduate, has now made multiple 3-pointers in four of five games for Iowa State (5-0), which is ranked 17th in the AP Poll and 22nd in the Coaches Poll.
Thomas, who has started all five games, leads the Cyclones in minutes. He’s now averaging 10.2 points, going 19-for-39 (49 percent) from the field and 10-for-27 (37 percent) from beyond the arc. He also averages 3.4 rebounds.
