Thomas, Iowa State get by TCU
FORT WORTH, Tex. – Matt Thomas had five points and five rebounds in helping No. 17 Iowa State get past TCU.
Thomas, a freshman from Onalaska, Wis., played 30 minutes off the bench, going 2-for-5 from the field and 1-for-2 from beyond the arc, in a 71-60 win over TCU.
Guards DeAndre Kane and Georges Niang combined for 39 points for the Cyclones (21-5, 9-5 Big 12), who have won three in a row and six of their last seven.
TCU (9-17, 0-14) was down 59-57 with just over 5 minutes remaining Niang scored back-to-back three-point plays the hard way to put the game out of reach.
ISU, which finished the game on a 12-3 run, had 20 assists on 29 field goals. TCU, which shot just 36.7 percent, had only eight assists.
