La Crosse's King scores eight as Badgers blowout UW-Milwaukee
La Crosse native Kobe King is slowly progressing with the Wisconsin Badgers.
The freshman scored eight points in a career-high 20 minutes, as Wisconsin blew out UW-Milwaukee 71-49 on Friday at the Kohl Center.
Now, it may seem like King simply played because of a blowout, but the Central High School graduate scored a career-high nine points in the 72-70 loss on Tuesday.
In the win, King went 2-for-2 from beyond the arc, and 3-for-6 from the field. He grabbed two rebounds and got his first-career block.
King checked in at the 17:10 mark of the second half with Wisconsin up 30-23 and nailed a 3-pointer to make it 39-25. He hit his second 3-pointer with 1:35 remaining, giving the Badgers (3-3) their biggest lead, 22 points, of the game.
The Panthers (4-2), who lost to UW-La Crosse 83-73 in an exhibition on Nov. 10, didn’t shoot particularly bad from the field (23-for-51) but managed just three assists. They were also a putrid 1-for-11 from beyond the arc.
Wisconsin outrebounded UW-M 37-25 and had 14 assists in going 27-for-52 from the field. The Badgers were also 10-for-19 from beyond the arc.
Brad Davidson led Wisconsin with a career-high 19 points, going 5-for-6 from beyond the arc. Ethan Happ added 14 points on 7-for-12 shooting, to go with eight rebounds.
