Koenig returns to Wisconsin, helps lead Pistons' G-League team to win
OSHKOSH, Wis. — Bronson Koenig was back in Wisconsin on Wednesday night but, oddly enough, he didn’t play much.
The La Crosse native did help lead the Grand Rapids Drive to a 111-104 win over the Wisconsin Herd in the NBA’s G-League.
In front of 3,019 fans, Koenig scored 14 points, going 5-for-11 from the field and 4-for-7 from beyond the arc. He also had two assists and a rebound in 20 minutes of action at Menominee Nation Arena.
But heading into the matchup, Koenig had averaged 34 minutes his past six games, averaging 12.5 points. His shooting, however, has been pretty sporadic.
In his last game, he was 2-for-4 from beyond the arc. The two games before that, he combined to go 2-for-13 from deep. And, the game before that, he was 5 of 8.
For the season, Koenig is averaging 9.6 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
Koenig was initially signed by the Milwaukee Bucks on a two-way contract with the Herd (11-7) but was released. The Chicago Bulls picked him up and traded him to the Detroit Pistons’ affiliate, the Drive (10-10).
