Alex Smith headed to Washington in flurry of NFL news surrounding QB

A flurry of news has come out of the NFL surrounding quarterback Alex Smith.
First, Washington sent a 2018 third-round pick and a, so far, unnamed player, to Kansas City in the trade, according to the NFL Network.
The trade, however, won’t be official until March 14, when the 2018-19 NFL season officially begins, but that didn’t stop the news that Smith signed with Washington for four years, $94 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Also Cleveland tried to land Smith before the trade, according to Cleveland.com. The Browns have the No. 1 and No. 4 pick in the 2018 draft and over $100 million in cap space.
Schefter also reported that six teams had shown interest in Smith.
That leaves Kansas City with with 2017 first-round pick Patrick Mahomes at QB, while Washington’s Kirk Cousins is most definitely headed elsewhere, after two consecutive seasons being franchised tagged.
