TONIGHT: Brewers face rookie phenom, who was perfect through six in MLB debut last week
Should be an interesting matchup tonight for the Milwaukee Brewers, facing a rookie who was headed for a perfect game in his first-ever start last week.
Pittsburgh righty Nick Kingman made headlines with a seven-inning, nine-strikeout, one-hitter in his MLB debut. The 26-year-old was perfect through six innings in the 5-0 win over St. Louis.
His call-up was sort of random. Pittsburgh needed a sixth starter because of a doubleheader. His performance was so good — and the Pirates fifth starter so bad — the team retained him for another outing. Milwaukee just happens to be that lucky team.
You can hear the 7:10 p.m. game tonight with Bob Uecker on WKTY 96.7 FM / 580 AM. The Brewers send Junior Guerra (2-1) and his .082 ERA to the mound.
