Kayak bass fishing tourney in La Crosse, open to public, with prize $10,000

It seems like there’s been quite a few fishing tournaments in the La Crosse area this summer.
Add one more to the list, as the Kayak Bass Fishing Open begins at 6 a.m. Friday and runs through 4 p.m. Saturday.
It’s one of only five events this year that doesn’t require membership, meaning anyone can compete. And there’s still a chance to get in on the more than $10,000 prize. Deadline to signup is midnight Thursday and you can do that by clicking here. Entry fee is $150.
Mostly every kayak meets the event requirements, Jeremiah Burish with Explore La Crosse said.
Sixty-one anglers have entered so far. They will be using pools 7, 8 and 9 of the Mississippi River.
“It really is a premier destination for kayak fishing because of all those backwaters that normal boats can’t get to,” Burish said.
Burish says the prep time for the fishermen leading up before it helps the local economy for about a week.
