Central comes back from down 20 only to see Holmen win it with no time left

A field goal as time expired capped off a thrilling opening to the Mississippi Valley Conference season Thursday night on WKTY.
After a thrilling 20-point, second-half comeback by Central High School’s football team, it was a Jonah Johnson 32-yard field goal as time expired that won it for Holmen, 30-27.

Central tied the game the possession before when Johnny Davis scored on a 41-yard run, capping off an 81-yard drive. The Red Raiders missed the extra point, however.
But, with 2:51 remaining, Holmen (1-2, 1-0) took over and drove from its 38 down to the Central 15 yard line to line up Johnson, who missed a field goal in the third, for the win.
Holmen’s Kevin Koelbl had 193 yards on 20 carries, while junior Brett Holden finished with 135 yards and three touchdowns. The Vikings scored touchdowns on four of its five first-half possessions.
Davis had 323 yards passing and 76 more on the ground.
