Jeff Saturday chimes in on rift between Rodgers and McCarthy, as search begins for new Packers coach

Year after year, there have always been rumors that Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was at odds with his coach.
Former offensive lineman Jeff Saturday added to that.

As for the firing of Mike McCarthy on Sunday — Rodgers’ birthday — after the 20-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, Packers chief executive officer Mark Murphy talked of his 35-year-old quarterback’s input on the decision — which was none.
“Aaron was no part at all of the decision to move on,” chief executive officer Mark Murphy told reporters Monday, according Jason Wilde at Madison.com.

Before the season, Rodgers signed a four-year, $134-million extension with the Packers and Murphy said the quarterback would be “free to add input” in the search for a new head coach.
“My door’s open,” Murphy said, according to ESPN. “(General manager) Brian’s (Gutekunst) door is open. We have great relationships with Aaron, but he is not going to be making the decision on our next head coach. We’d welcome his input.”
Rodgers only coach in his NFL career has been McCarthy. The two won the Super Bowl in 2010.
