Brewers back in hunt for Moustakas

The Milwaukee Brewers are back in the hunt for third baseman Mike Moustakas.

They’re not the only ones, however.

The San Diego Padres are also eyeing the 30-year-old, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, along with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Milwaukee got Moustakas from the Kansas City Royals at the trade deadline last season.

Upon his arrival, he slashed .256/.326/.441 with eight home runs and 12 doubles in 54 games.

In the postseason, he went 8-for-40 without a home run in 10 games.

He was up for a $15-million mutual option after the season but, of course, turned it down.

If he re-signs in Milwaukeee, it creates a bit of a logjam at the hot corner, though Travis Shaw would likely shift to second base like down the stretch last season.
