UW-La Crosse women's hoops looking for first-ever bid to WIAC tourney finals
If the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women’s basketball team wins tonight, it will be the first time in program history it’s made the WIAC tournament championship game.
To do it, the 25th-ranked and third-seeded Eagles (22-4) need to beat second-seeded UW-Whitewater (17-8) on the road. The game begins at 7 p.m. tonight.
This is the third consecutive trip to the WIAC semifinals for three-year UW-L coach Karen Middleton. The Eagles have been to the semifinals five times since the tournament began in 1999.
The two split the season series, both winning on the road — UW-L 60-49 on Jan. 12 and UW-W 55-53 on Jan. 26.
