BOYS BASKETBALL: Wins tonight for Spring Grove, St. Charles will punch ticket to state tourney
The Spring Grove High School boys basketball team is a win from the Minnesota state tournament.
At 6 p.m. today, the Lions (22-4) play Randolph (26-2) in the Section 1A finals at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester.
The Lions lost in the section championship last season to Rushford-Peterson.
In the Section 1AA championship at 8 p.m., top-seeded and fifth-ranked Lake City (25-2) will play No. 6 seed St. Charles (19-7), which upset Caledonia 65-63 on Wednesday.
The winner in Section 1AA will open state Wednesday at either the Target Center or Williams Arena depending on the seed.
The Section 1A winner plays Thursday at Williams Arena.
