Vikings could lose TE Rudolph

Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph could be cut or traded.

The 29-year-old is saying all the right things, hoping he and the team can work something out.

“This is where we want to be,” Rudolph said. “This is where I want to finish my career, this is where I started my career.”

Rudolph will count roughly $7.6 million against the salary cap this year.

Once the Vikings sign their draft picks, they’ll only have about $800,000 in salary cap space.

In the past 12 months, Minnesota signed quarterback Kirk Cousins and extended wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen.

Diggs just signed a 5-year, $72 million deal with a $15 million signing bonus.

Thielen was extended to a four-year, $64-million contract with a $9-million signing bonus through 2024 when he’ll be 34 years old.

Cousins has two years left on his original, three-year, $84 million contract that has $84.3 million guaranteed.
