Brewers make moves; trade Jesus Aguilar to Rays and acquire pitcher Drew Pomeranz from Giants.

David Stearns and the Milwaukee Brewers made some moves on the first ever “Official” Major League Baseball trade deadline.

The rumors of Jesus Aguilar to the Rays turned out to be true as the Crew sent Aguilar, who had 35 homers and 108 RBI last year, to the Rays for RHP Jake Faria. 

Faria has thrown 10 innings this season and has a 2.70 ERA. He has appeared in 40 MLB games — with 26 starts — over three seasons and has a 4.18 ERA and 9-8 record.

The Brewers also sent minor league prospect Mauricio Dubon to the Giants for starting pitcher Drew Pomeranz.  Pomeranz is 2-9 this season with a 5.68 ERA after signing with the Giants as a free agent. His best season was in 2017, when he went 17-6 with a 3.32 ERA for the Red Sox.

These might not be earth-shattering moves, but for a Brewers team only 1.5 games out of the NL Central division lead, they may prove to key.
