Davis dominates with his legs; Central claims Ark Trophy for third straight year

La Crosse Central dispatched La Crosse Logan 33-6 on Friday night to claim The Ark Trophy for the third consecutive year.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Red Raiders had the ball deep inside Logan territory to start the 2nd. Johnny Davis found tight end Terrance Thompson in the corner of the end zone for a 4 yard touchdown.

Davis spent the rest of the games beating the Rangers with his legs. He rushed for two touchdowns before halftime of 50 and 36 yards to make the score 20-0 at the half.

The senior QB didn’t waste time in the 2nd half picking up where he left off. Davis sprinted 72 yards to the end zone on the first play from scrimmage.

Max Harcey dove into the end zone from 1 yard out on the ensuing possession to cut the Central lead back to 20, but the damage had been done.

Davis added another 42 yard touchdown run with 5:56 left in the quarter to close out the scoring.

The Red Raiders moved to 4-2 on the season and have a major showdown at Sparta next Friday.

Logan falls to 2-4 on the year. Things won’t get easier for the Rangers, as they travel to Holmen next week.
