No. 6 Minnesota destroys No. 5 Badgers

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — In a battle of Nos. 5 vs. 6 in the nation, it was all Minnesota on Wednesday.
The sixth-ranked Gophers destroyed the No. 5 Badgers with a 3-0 sweep (25-17, 25-21, 25-15).

Stephanie Samedy and Alexis Hart each had 14 kills to lead Minnesota (9-2, 2-1), which opened up an 8-0 lead to start the third set, demoralizing Wisconsin (9-2, 2-1). Samantha Seliger-Swenson had 39 assists in the win.
Dana Rettke led the Badgers with 12 kills, while teammates Sydney Hilley had 39 assists and Tiffany Clark had 16 digs.
Minnesota hit .323. No team had hit over .293 against the Badgers this season. Wisconsin hit .232 in the match.
In the first set, Wisconsin had a 2-1 lead before the Gophers went on a 5-0 run and never trailed again.
The Badgers were up 10-8 in the second set before Minnesota reeled off six in a row and never trailed again.
And Wisconsin never even got started in the final set.
