West Salem will look to slow down dynamic Central offense regular-season finale

An offense that’s humming headed into the regular-season finale makes it a big challenge for an opponent.
That’s where West Salem High School’s football team finds itself this week, looking to stop Central at 7 p.m. Friday at home.
With almost 600 yards receiving and seven touchdowns, defenses will take notice.
Stopping Central’s Jordan Davis, however, hasn’t seemingly worked.
With his brother Johnny Davis and his over 1,700 yards this season, the two have become an explosive passing attack for the Red Raiders.
West Salem will focus on trying to stop the twins.
“We’ve just seen their growth over the season on film,” West Salem coach Justin Jehn said. “They’re more than just a “throw it up and go get it” kind of duo. … They’re moving him around and that makes them pretty difficult to defend.”
That’s not all Jehn is worried about, however. He isn’t overlooking Central’s rushing attack.
“The evolution of their running game, as well, makes them a much more explosive offense,” he said.
But, again, it’s still a Davis he’ll need to worry about. Johnny Davis also leads the team in rushing with 462 yards and nine touchdowns.
Both teams enter the game 6-2, 4-2 with the winner tying for second place in the Mississippi Valley Conference with the loser of the Onalaska-Holmen matchup.
