Brewers begin 10-game home stand tonight without Yelich

The Milwaukee Brewers are back home, kicking off a three-game series tonight with the Colorado Rockies.

On the mound, Colorado’s Kyle Freeland will go against Zach Davies.

The Brewers are 15-14 and in a bit of a land slide, after a 7-1 start to the season.

Fortunatley this is the first of a 10-game home stand. Unfortunately, they’ll be without reigning NL MVP Christian Yelich — for at least tonight.

The 27-year-old suffered a lower back injury Sunday afternoon and left the game after five innings.

Manager Craig Counsel said after the game that Yelich was a little sore but doesn’t think he’ll hit the injured list.

Over the weekend, Yelich became just the third player in MLB history to have 14 home runs before May 1.

The other two: Alex Rodriguez and Albert Pujols. Rodriguez finished finished with 54 homers in 2007. The year before that, Pujols ended with 49.
