Packers lock up Adams for 4 years, $58 million

The Green Bay Packers have locked up Davante Adams to a four-year extension that could be worth $58 million.
Adams’ $14.5 million base salary will make him the fourth-highest paid receiver behind Antonio Brown ($17 million), DeAndre Hopkins ($16.2 million) and A.J. Green ($15 million) next season.
Adams, who turned 25 on Christmas Eve, has suffered three concussions in the past 14 months. He’ll get an $18 million signing bonus and earn $32 million in the first two years, according to the NFL Network.
Meanwhile, Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb are both in the final years of their contracts. Nelson and Cobb’s cap hits combine for $25.3 million next season ($12.55 million for Nelson, $12.75 million for Cobb), when Nelson will be 33 and Cobb will be 28.
Aaron Rodgers had this to say back on Dec. 12 about Adams: “He’s making a lot of money this year,” Rodgers told ESPN. “Hopefully we pay him sooner rather than later. He’s a talented guy who has just proven it week after week. He’s tough to guard. It’s tough to guard him one-on-one.”
If that doesn’t justify it, perhaps this stat does: With Brett Hundley, Adams caught 46 passes for 543 yards and five touchdowns.  With Rodgers, he had 28 receptions for 342 yards and five touchdowns.
