Holmen softball back in section championship for 3rd straight season

Holmen High School hopes a rematch to get to the WIAA state softball tournament goes different this year.
For the third consecutive season, the Vikings (16-6) are in the Division 1 sectional championship. At 4 p.m. today, they will play top-seeded and undefeated Sun Prairie (25-0) in Baraboo, Wis., for a trip to the state tournament.
Last year, this is where Holmen’s season came to an end, in a 10-5 loss to Sun Prairie.
So far in the playoffs, the Vikings, who have eight players hitting over .400, have scored 40 runs in three games, including a 19-8 win over Tomah.
