McCarthy says dreaded "running back by committee" as minicamp is set to begin

The Green Bay Packers just wrapped up their third week of voluntary workouts.
The next step will be minicamp next week.
Packers coach Mike McCarthy was asked about Ty Montgomery’s role in the offense given the emergence of two rookies, while the back was hurt last year.
“No one has really gone the distance, so we’re a running back by committee,” McCarthy said.
Aaron Jones and Jamal Williams split carries throughout the season.
McCarthy has not said publicly he would move Montgomery solely to wide receiver, where he played the first season of his career.
Montgomery, 25, played eight games last season, 71 times for 273 yards (3.8 avg.) and three touchdowns. He also had 23 receptions (30 targets) for 173 yards (7.3 avg.) and a score.
The season before that, he rushed 77 times for 457 yards (5.9 avg.) with three touchdowns in 15 games. That season he had 44 receptions (56 targets) for 348 yards but no TDs.
Williams led the team in rushing last season with 153 carries for 556 yards (3.6 avg.) and four TDs. Jones rushed 81 times for 448 yards (5.5 avg.) and four TDs, as well.
