Caledonia looks to get even in first round of state

For the first time in school history, Caledonia High School’s baseball team is headed to the MSHSL state tournament.
At 12:20 p.m. Thursday in St. Cloud, the fifth-seeded Warriors (21-2) will take on No. 4 Minnehaha Academy (16-5), which has won back-to-back Class 2A state championships and was the runner-up three seasons ago.
Minnehaha is also the team that beat Caledonia in the state boys basketball championship this past season (73-60).
Both schools have athletes that compete in both sports.
The winner will play at 2:30 p.m. Friday from Dick Putz Field in St. Cloud, looking for a trip to Target Field in Minneapolis for the state title at 1 p.m. Saturday.
In Class 1A, unseeded Rushford-Peterson (15-8) is back at state and will take on No. 3 South Ridge (19-5) at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Chaska Athletic Park.
In each class, there will also be a consolation bracket and third-place game, all taking place on Friday. View the entire bracket here.
